kvm extenders
KVM extenders and KVM Extender modules provide a simple solution for extending your keyboard, video and mouse system over long distance. Extension can be as long as 1000 feet and is completed using inexpensive CAT5/CAT6 UTP cables. A CAT5 KVM Extender is very useful when the video monitor and keyboard/mouse are a long distance from the source. Our extenders are compatible with PS2 and USB keyboards and mice, while the video feeds can be transmitted through DVI or VGA. The most valuable feature of a KVM Extender is that it reduces the need for bulky VGA/DVI and PS2/USB cables, saving you space and money!
The usual KVM Extender set up provides a local transmitter unit for the feed that you are extending and receiver to which the keyboard, video and mouse are transmitted to. Connecting the two units is done via CAT5/CAT6 cables. Our selection of KVM Extenders include audio support for the transmission, however, on some units this is an added feature.
Along with KVM Extender over CAT5, we have Fiber Optic KVM Extender, which allows for a much longer extension. These devices tend to be a little bit more expensive then your typical KVM extender over CAT5, but they provide a more secure and safer extension.
We have many different cables and adapters available in case you have a PC or peripherals that do not match your desired extender. There are many different PS2 cables, as well as USB cables, and many different adapters/converters!
The CAT5 KVM Extender set-up is compatible with nearly every operating system, differing in some units. Some applications where KVM Extenders are useful include digital signage, lab studies, experimental environments, military environments and data centers.
